I've been tagged!!!

ok you've all seen this done before....so I'm going to share 6 quirky things about me that perhaps you never knew.

1) I have a 30 before 30 list
I totally recommend this to everyone! It's a fun way to think about things you want to accomplish within a given amount of time. I'm totally goal oriented so I know I will do everything in my power to accomplish these things.

Here are a few I've already accomplished 1) go to BYU 2) study abroad to Paris 3) go on a mission 4) go to New York City 5) take bookbinding

Here is a look at a few more I have yet to accomplish 1) run a marathon 2) get a Master's degree 3) grow and keep an herb garden 4) shake hands with the Prophet 5) work in a major art museum

2) I think it is socially inappropriate to (ahem) "go number 2" in a public restroom. enough said.

3) I don't have a problem with nudity in art.

ART being the keyword. And my future children will probably be used to seeing nudity in art at a young age and won't think it's weird until they start having friends over.

4) I have a self-diagnosed "condition" where I have a problem of pulling out my eyebrow hairs and eyelashes.
I'm also addicted to plucking my eyebrows. I know this is gross and I'm sorry I made you read it, but it actually is a problem, so if anyone has any tips or information that could help me get over this, I would greatly appreciated it.

5) I like to have messy hair.
I always have since I was a little girl, just ask my dad. He didn't like it.

6) I memorize things by visual pattern.
I couldn't tell you the numbers of someone's phone number unless I had a key pad to look at the pattern my finger makes when I dial, but who dials numbers anymore anyway? I also use these patterns to memorize the department codes at work and for code entry locks and for how long I've been running on a trail and stuff like that.

ok so you all know a few more things about me. I don't have enough friends who blog who haven't done this already so if you want to do it, go for it!

The prejudice is over!

One of my FAVORITE movies is Pride and Prejudice. Over the past year, every time I would watch any Jane Austen movie my friend Holly would groan with disgust and leave the room. Well, last weekend to my great surprise she told me she wanted to watch it and make a girls' night out of it. Thanks to my sister Jordan, we did just that.
And Holly LOVED it!!! I guess she was just a little too prideful before... :)

For Time and Eternity

Alisa and Ryan Harrison:
We girls went through this entire dating, breaking up, courtship, breaking up, engagement, and FINALLY marriage together. It was wonderful to see it all happen. I actually learned a lot from these two people. I've never seen the whole dating, engagement, marriage process done before. This was a special day for everyone!

A recent tender mercy!

Most everyone who knows me knows that I am passionate about art. My major is Art History and I'm enjoying being involved with the Museum of Art on campus at BYU.

Recently I was kind of getting down on myself because thoughts were entering my head that I'm devoting my studies to something that is purely selfish and doesn't help anyone be a better person or help further the Kingdom of God on earth.
Then I had a real awakening experience that filled me with joy. Heavenly Father blesses his children with talents. He expects us to develop them and use them to serve others. I haven't necessarily been blessed as an artist, but I've been blessed with a desire to embrace beauty and learn from it- to let it shape my life and teach others how they can be shaped by it too. As a museum professional I'll be gathering thought-provoking pieces of artwork from artists and giving them the opportunity to share their talents. I'll have opportunities to teach through art which is one of my favorite things to do! "If there is anything virtuous, lovely, or of good report or praiseworthy, we seek after these things."

Ok so that is my dream. I'm planning to go to graduate school. I am most interested in Sotheby's Institute of Art. It's based in London but has a campus in New York and also in Singapore (but I'm not really interested in going to Singapore!) but New York and London sound great. (Because it's based from the University of Manchester in England the GRE is not required for admission!) I am most interested in the Contemporary Art MA but also interested in Fine and Decorative Arts MA. This school is hard to get in to, so I'm not putting all my eggs in this one basket! I'm also looking into BYU master's in Art History and some other schools in Museum Studies. Here's the link to Sotheby's if you want to check it out! http://www.sothebysinstitute.com

When I pulled into the Visitor Center parking lot and looked out at the Independence Temple Lot, I felt the spirit witness to me of the holiness of this land. I am truly blessed to be from Independence and to have the Restored Gospel in my life. Independence is one of three missions piloting a media compaign all throughout the Kansas City metro area. We've seen the billboards all over the city and heard the radio and tv commercials. They even have new business cards instead of pass along cards that direct everyone to the newly designed mormon.org. This media compaign is inspired! I join my prayers and faith with the members and missionaries of the metro area that this effort will prove fruitful!

Lacey, Me, and Adrianne at the Plaza

This is my favorite fountain at the Plaza
Kansas City: City of Fountains
Lacey, Adrianne, and I went to the Plaza Thursday night to have dinner at Cheesecake Factory. Then walked around and enjoyed the beautiful sites! It was so much fun.
This is a kind of Funny story:
We ordered a piece of cheesecake and as we were eating it, it started tipping over. Lacey yelled out, "Leaning tower of pisa!" I responded, "You mean Leaning Tower of Cheesa." Then they all started laughing and Lacey said, "That was Cheesy." Which sent us all into more laughing!
It is pretty cheesy huh?
Our waiter was super cute and had a cute accent. He was from Albania. I should have taken a picture of him!
So I get home and lo and behold my DAD is wearing a Michigan Football T-Shirt! What's up with that?! I had to give him a hard time about it. GO BUCKEYES!

It's finally starting to feel like spring!

New York City:
I was looking through my journal last night and came across my "30 before 30" list. (I think it's a great thing for everyone to have.) I realized that I had accomplished one more
thing on my list! "Go to New York City." I forgot it was even on my list. It was such a fun trip. The best part was spending time with Bremen!
