Shoes You This Day: an introduction

My feet are mad at me.

Well, the left one is at least. I've been a little hard on them lately and haven't given them enough time to recuperate from one crazy pair of shoes to the next. On the plus side, however, I've been wearing a wide variety of shoes lately—even reaching far in the back of my closet and wearing some I haven't worn for a while. It must be fall. My left foot is half numb. I can't feel a couple of my toes. I'm worried. It was the tall black boots.

So, to show my feet the love they deserve, I'm starting a new little project. I'm gonna post pictures of the shoes I wear each day. Sounds simple? It's not. I change shoes about 3 times a day. I'm doing this because it will be a fun way to document my life by showing what I wear on my feet and where my feet are going these days.

I've already been doing this for a while. Let me give you some examples.

I probably won't post everyday, but if it's worn on the feet and leaves the house, it's eligible.

Here's the first pair I wore today. Got these babies for $27.99 at J.Crew. That's another reason for my feet to forgive me.

And these were part of my halloween costume (and the cause for the numbness.) Bought at the Banana Republic Outlet in Park City Utah a few years ago.

Thank You Aunt Wendy!

Today while chewing on gummy bears and while walking under the brilliant Chinatown gate, my sweet aunt Wendy told me I have stunning green eyes.

But that's not all.

She continued to shower me with sweet gifts, wonderful conversation, and upliftment where I forget that I need it the most. How can someone with her own 6 kids, big handful of grandkids, and more nieces and nephews than we can count be so sweet to little old me? I don't know how she and so many others do it, but I'm so grateful.

When talking with my aunt, I felt the Spirit. I was reminded that work, schedules, and demanding responsibilities can take a chill pill for a second and that I am allowed to sit and converse and enjoy the company of someone who I see for maybe 30 minutes once a year if I'm lucky. I'm allowed to be told that I'm beautiful, that I'm doing wonderful things with my life, and that I'll be blessed in this life. I believe her. I'm so grateful for loving family members who give so much to me but more importantly bring perspective to my life that I can't see sometimes.

I've sat in the beautiful courtyard of my museum doing this very thing with 2 aunts now and 1 uncle. Who's next?!
