conversations with a 5 year old.

Yes I'm one of those Aunts who posts funny conversations with her nephews:

Most of them are with Trevan (age 5)

The other day he was eating a snack in a ziplock bag and kept saying, "Mmmm! Want some?"
"Are they salty or sweet?" I asked. (I couldn't tell by looking)
He stared at me blankly and after a few seconds of silence he said, "Good."

I tried to explain to Trevan that I live far away, kind of by the ocean and where President Obama lives. He asked incredulously, "The OBAMADABLE SNOWMAN?"

He loves his baby brother and he can be alone in a room with him and I'll overhear Trevan saying out loud, "I would die for Carsten." and "I love Carsten so much."

I can't remember what happened but a few nights ago I was babysitting and we were eating dinner and Trevan and Cameron had me cracking up so hard I could only put my head down on the table and shake with laughter. Wish I could remember what was so funny!

Day 4 in Paris: A Sunny Sunday

After a wonderful Christmas themed Sacrament meeting with French I could actually understand, Bremen and I explored more of the Hotel-de-Ville area, Ile de la Cite, and the Latin Quarter. I loved the sunshine.

I adore this building, the Hotel-de-Ville, or in other words, the City Hall. I ice skated here 7 years ago. Remember Nuit Blanche and the life changing experience I had within the courtyard of this building? Remember how 5 years later I wrote my Contemporary Art semester paper on that experience and got an A on it and in the class?
And just for fun in the Middle Ages people were executed in this square by sentence of quartering. Need help picturing this? All four limbs tied to four different horses and charging in four different directions. Got it?

One bridge. Tons of Pics.

Only Bremen's eye can capture this:

Making our way to Notre-Dame

3rd time there in 3 days. And we even went back several more times.

I then happened upon the most delightful discovery: A bridge where lovers lock their love and throw away the key.

And then perhaps my favorite place in Paris. And Bremen's too.
We went there a couple times and bought books each time. I could just cuddle up and read there all day.

And here's a little musical snack. Shakespeare sure does inspire.

I then took Bremen to this beautiful church in the Latin Quarter, St. Severin.

We loved our day. Hope you did too.

Christmas Day in Paris!

It was a beautiful cold, sunny, winter day. The best kind of winter day.

Bremen and I both thought all the little figurines in the Cat Lady apartment were ridiculous, so I made us a cat lady figurine nativity. It stars a blue and pink matching Joseph and Mary, a white kitty drinking milk as Jesus, a huge goofy rabbit as the angel, a scorpion for a stable animal, and an Indian man riding an elephant represents the shepherd.

 Our presents!

Our delicious Christmas groceries. I LOVE FRENCH FOOD! That chocolate cereal is the best in the entire world. I think Bremen and I bought maybe 5 boxes on the trip. Later that morning we went to a boulangerie and bought two of the most delicious baguettes I've ever tasted.

These pics were our view from our apartment window.
Hot.

We were lazy on Christmas Day and spent most of the daylight hours listening to Christmas music, eating, and working on this puzzle. We went out that night to a neighborhood Italian restaurant and had pizza and pasta.

Only the Best Christmas Eve Ever

Photobucket

Christmas Eve was snowy and we did more that day than I ever thought could be possible. We started and ended the day at Notre-Dame. At midnight on Christmas Eve night, we walked out of Notre-Dame to a reverent square with bells ringing, the Eiffel Tower sparkling in the distance, and a realization that it was Christmas.

Here's a few more for good measure

Paris Day 1

Getting there was rough, but the second I came above ground from the metro stop in the neighborhood where we'd be staying I was in love.  Christmas decor, little shops and restaurants, and adorable architecture. That night we explored and had our favorite meal of the entire trip. I had an open face ham and goat cheese sandwich with salad and Bremen had gnocchi (best I've ever tasted).

resolutions

If I were a queen of self-discipline these would be my goals for 2011. One dessert a week. No potato chips. No buying clothes. Work out at least twice a week.

So even if I'm not 100% perfect I want to at least try.
