Maggie's Favorite Things

In true Oprah fashion, I am sharing with all of you a photo of my 5 most favorite things! I am interested to know what my friends and family are CRAZY about and why! So I'm starting a tag to get people to share with all of us the things you couldn't live without. Whether it's a tried and true bargain that's never let you down or maybe one of your most luxurious keepsakes that you truly treasure, I want to know about it! Come on girls, you can be completely superficial (like me) or share with us something that means a lot to you. The key is that the items are things that you pretty much swoon over each and everyday--they make you happy!

My list includes:

1) My Met bag! Guys, I love this bag. It might be kind of silly that I use it as a purse, but from the day I bought it at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City, I haven't been able to put it down! I feel like it describes me as a person. Plus, I truly hope to work at the Met someday.

2) Bath and Body Works Magnolia Blossom. I LOVE this scent. I wear it when I want to feel pretty and feminine. Adrianne introduced it to me. Sadly, (doesn't even begin to accurately describe it) the scent has been discontinued by the powers that be at BB and W. June 2nd is the beginning of the Semi Annual sale and sometimes they bring out discontinued items. I plan to stock up.

3) Burt Bees Lip balm. LOVE IT. I usually get the stick version, however. It tingles on the lips and makes my lips so smooth. It's all natural as well.

4) My InfraShine. Girls, this thing has changed my life. It heats up in 5 seconds and glosses through my hair so easily, leaving an ultra straight and shiny 'do. It also can create curls and waves. My hairdresser got this for me at the wholesale price, which was still just under $100 dollars. I KNOW! Expensive. I know. But it comes with a warranty and came recommended over Chi or any other flat iron. I truly don't have time to use it more than once or twice a week, but it sure is great when I get to use it!

5) Elizabeth Arden's Green Tea perfume. This item has stuck with me the longest out of any of the rest of these. This has been my signature scent since High School. The scent is so fresh and herbal and energizing. It's not really a sweet smell, just a fresh, mouth-watering, clean scent. I LOVE IT! I even broke down and bought a bottle while I was a missionary because I missed it so much! Here's the trick though. I only buy it at T.J. Max. It's usually under $20, and for some reason it's always there!

I can't tell you how many times people have stared at me wide-eyed with an incredulous look on their face when I tell them I served my mission in Ohio and and I'm from Missouri. Quite a few thoughtless people even had the nerve to ask me if there was something wrong with me and that's why I had to serve so close to home!

To those people I just think to myself, "You are probably completely unaware of the geography of the midwest anyway. You probably don't even know where Ohio is."

Get over it! It's not that close! Yes the early Saints did walk from Kirtland to Independence, but I'd like to see anyone try to do that now. I'm from the very most western part of my state and served most of my mission in the very eastern most part of Ohio, making a span of 4 states separating the distance.

Let's also think about how Ohio is in the Eastern time zone. It borders New York state which *gasp!* borders the Atlantic Ocean!

How about the elder I know from Kansas who is serving in Utah. That's 3 states people. How about the girl I met in the MTC from Bountiful and called to serve at Temple Square?

I just don't get what the big deal is and when people stare and then laugh hysterically at me it kind of annoys me.

* to my friends who read this, my annoyance is not directed to you! It's more towards this guy I met yesterday who I happened to have been forced to become the third wheel of his date. Awkward and annoying!

Another random post.

Ok so I like to get into a good show every once in a while, but I never get to see all the episodes. Anyway so I never really get into American Idol, this year included. I think I saw one of the auditioning episodes a long time ago and I saw the last two episodes. I just think that I have the unique position to brag slightly that which ever way the title would have gone, the new American Idol would basically be from my hometown.

Jason Cook is from Blue Springs where my Dad and Stepmom live and he graduated from Blue Springs South high where my sister, Jordan graduated as well as my stepbrother, Chris. Chris sang with Cook in the same choirs.

David Archuleta is from Murray, a suburb of Salt Lake, and even though I can't say I've spent much time in Murray, I am also from a suburb of Salt Lake and live about 30 min from there.

So anyway, I know it's not that big of a deal but I just think its cool that I've heard about the goings on on both sides.

That's it.

I can't resist taking a minute to post this weirdness that's going on right now at work. Ok so not too far from the building where I work (the MOA), construction workers are drilling underground to build a tunnel connecting the ASB to the JKB (This is BYU folks love the acronyms, or leave it). While they are drilling, EVERYTHING on campus is vibrating like crazy. It doesn't matter where you are you can feel it. So I came back to work (I work underground so it's even worse) and the whole building is shaking and it is mysteriously EMPTY down here. ALL of my coworkers are gone without a trace! I'm kind of thinking, "uh should I be here?" It's weird and kind of creepy.

How 'bout a hand for the hawg?

Bremen dun had the best dad gum idear for all the kinfolk to get back in touch wit our hillbilly missoura roots and go see the musical 'Big River'.

ok I can't talk like that anymore :) but it was fun for just a sec.
The sibos went to the Grand Theatre in Salt Lake to see this production last Saturday night. I remember seeing it under the stars at Kansas City's Starlight Theatre when I was little. We had the Record Album that had this picture on the cover and I remember jamming out to this music during all of my childhood. We really are hillbillies.

It's the story of Huckleberry Finn, Tom Sawyer, and a runaway slave named Jim. Some of the music is silly and some is beautiful and touching. The story teaches principles of true friendship, the worth of a soul, and how our conscience is sometimes more correct than what society says is right. I would encourage everyone to see this musical if you get a chance!

Updates...

Jordan delivered another angel baby on May 5th. His name is Spencer McClellan. He was born stillborn, but we were warned ahead of time by the doctors that he would not live. Jordan and Michael are so strong and have a beautiful eternal perspective on life. They are happy the baby came safely for Jordan and they know that they will raise him eventually. He is buried in Holladay next to his sister, Chambry, and aunt, Mary Lydia Leak


Tyler Michael McClellan was baptized and confirmed on May 3rd!
It was a very special day with lots of family and friends there to support him.
Tyler asked me to give the talk on the Gift of the Holy Ghost, so that was really special. Tyler is such a good boy and a great big brother to his little brothers. He is obsessed with sports and BYU. He can throw a football harder than my brother can!

Trip to ARCHES!!!!

My best friend from High School, Lacey, came to Utah to visit so Holly, Lindsay, Lacey, and I took a trip to Moab to Arches National Park! It was so fun and beautiful! We made lots of fun memories that day! Thanks for going girls!
