Ciao Bella
Lovely evening in Baltimore's Little Italy. Slurping up some pasta as pictured below... Just need a Jacques to complete my Lady. Isabella's chicken Parm and petit pasta salad and Vaccarro's lemon and raspberry ice is where it's at!! DC friends let's all go back soon. Plus there's a DJ and great music before the movie and I know you'll get the party started.

Life at the business school
You know you're in a short-term employment situation when at an all staff meeting the business school vice dean cracks a joke about why would anyone want to work in a museum and the whole auditorium erupts in laughter.

Shoes You This Day: stop looking at me
The owner of the shoes across from mine looks so exactly like an exboyfriend of mine that I couldn't stop staring at him to see if it was really him. Then he started staring back me. Still not sure to be honest. P.s. I'm on the bus.

Walking Home
Yesterday I had an inkling to walk home. It felt nice out compared to
the awful heat we've been having. I walked along Massachusetts Avenue
past all the many many embassies. A lovely walk. I passed the Haitian
Embassy and remembered the day hundreds of people gathered there to
donate, sort, and pack truckload after truckload of relief items after
the earthquake. I passed the Ivory Coast Embassy with its bronze
elephant out front. The Brazilian Embassy really caught my eye. It's so
modern-in the academic meaning of the term. The sprawling British Embassy is
ever so impressive, and of course the Finnish Embassy is the perfect
mixture of woodsy and modernity-perhaps the most masculine of all the
embassies. If I were an embassy, I would have a serious crush on Finland.
Then there was the Norwegian Embassy. I was surprised and touched to see all the flowers laid out and signs saying "stay strong." It was beautiful. I love the memories I'm making at these various embassies.
If you were an embassy, which would you be? Who would you have a crush on? Who would you want to be friends with?

Another fabulous 4th of July in our Nation's Capitol!
This year a small group of us gathered between the Washington Monument and the WWII Memorial- about as close as you can get to where they shoot off the fireworks. We ate far too many trader joe's treats, listened to some live music, then enjoyed the blasts right above our heads. And got ash rained on us.
you can see a little blur of the Lincoln Memorial in this pic!
The smokey Washington Monument when it was all over
Love street performers who actually have talent and a unique concept like this band of men and boys who mostly play the trombone. There's a tuba and drum set too!

Shoes You This Day: GW
Every GW graduate is given a brick with their name, class, and degree, and they are used to literally build the campus. Someday I'll have one too!
