Remember how last semester was the easiest semester of my life? I just checked and I'm letting you know that was definitely a one time deal. We are back to hard again. Case in point: a couple days ago a professor walked past my desk and commented on a photo of a painting lying there. He asked, "Who's that?" I told him it was a French artist I'm studying. He asked if I was writing about him; I said "I'm creating a museum about him." He laughed. I laughed. It was one of those "NBD I forgot that this is what I really am doing with my life now" moments. And it's hard.
But I've been doing so many fun things lately too. Bremen had an acoustic night birthday party at my house. It was amazing. And somehow we put together a pretty amazing piece to perform. We covered Regina Spektor's "Us" with Bremen on piano and vocals and me on the violin. Listen to it and you will really hear the violin parts. I played that!
Went to West Virginia for President's Day weekend. A group of 20 of us went and had such a memorable experience. I learned three things: it isn't WV unless it involves a dump truck, ghetto-rigging a hot tub, and friends named BJ.
I love serving in my ward's Relief Society presidency. When we have meetings we mostly end up laughing, talking, crying, telling secrets, sharing inside jokes, and laughing more. It is such a blessing in my life. Our year mark is coming up and we just wrote a report outlining the past year --we oversaw some AMAZING things.
I don't have time to do this, but I thought why not? There is this challenge going around to do 6 things off your pinterest boards in 6 weeks. I don't know when I'm "starting," but I spent entirely too long deciding on my 6 things. It was actually a really hard decision. So here they are:
1. Finally make homemade envelopes with all the Jcrew catalogs that I can't throw away.
2. I've been LOVING my new routine of washing my face with nothing but coconut oil, hot water, and a washcloth. Before, I would normally go through a pack of Ponds facial wipes every two weeks. And they are $5 or more a pack! Plus I think they discontinued the ONLY one that worked for me, so I've given up on that completely. I've been using coconut oil only and love this therapeutic routine. So no more soap! Coconut oil takes off my eye makeup better than anything I have ever tried. I get the exfoliation I need from the washcloth and a few times a week I use apricot scrub. Here is where I learned about it. ANYWAY I want to try this one which incorporates baking soda.
3. I am going to a bridal shower this weekend and thought I could try to make ring holder. I also thought it could work for crafty type gifts. If you have any ideas on where I could find cute materials for this let me know.
4. Totally been wanting to try to make this DIY sea salt spray for wavy hair days.
5. Yummy recipe I want to try.
6. Finally need to put together the wall decor above my desk. Been working on elements of it forever and I just need to really put the final look together.
