10 Things Monthly Challenge: October

We are closing in on the end of 2013 already, and here's my October edition of 10 Things Monthly. I've realized maybe the #1 thing I get rid of each month are shoe boxes and old shoes. I guess I cycle through them pretty regularly. These posts may be a little boring, but to me it is a sweet victory to click on the project button to the right and see everything I've gotten rid of so far this year.

I'm starting to think about next year: 14 items a month in 2014? Maybe something like that.
Here's my list for this month:

1. Old (and favorite) blouse. I LOVED this top. I used to wear it so often. It was really hard for me to throw it out, but it was ripping every which way.
2. Old shoe box I was using for storage-recycled
3. Tissue paper I was holding on to for gifts-recycled
4. Box-recycled
5. Box-recycled
6. Gift from Korea-gave to kids I babysit
7. Flower gift- gave to kids I babysit
8. Old hangers-recycled
9. Candy-gave to kids I babysit
10. Box-recycled

Introducing: A Brother/Sister Roadtrip in the Fall

Well we didn't make it to Fallingwater, but the fall is just getting started, so maybe another weekend.

I got a bit of an artistic itch this weekend so take a peek at the little movie I made. You can catch a glimpse of the rolling hills of Pennsylvania and the misty lakes of the Finger Lakes Region of upstate New York. What a gorgeous weekend I had with my brother, visiting our aunt and uncle in Palmyra, New York.

I can't believe it's October. I love this month, crisp air, blue skies, dazzling fall colors, and Halloween! But it also signals to me the beginning of the end of the year with its cooling temperatures and moody weather.

There's a shadow hanging over this day in DC, knowing that our Congress can't get its act together and good people are missing out on work. There won't be a quick fix, either. But we still enjoy many freedoms and one I wish not to take for granted is the ability to travel. The next three weekends I'll be traveling up and down the East Coast.

This weekend I'm heading to upstate New York to see the fall foliage, visit family members, and feel the Spirit at the Sacred Grove and other LDS church history sites. I'll be listening to this moody October playlist the whole way up! There might be a stop at FLW's Fallingwater. I'm hoping to catch some scenery like this!

The next weekend trips include Baltimore and the Outer Banks, NC. Sometimes you just have to not worry so much about school and work and take advantage of opportunities as they come.
